The 7 Deadly Sins Eating Habits of A This College Student:

  1. Panini topped with Sour Cream & Onion chips  (noms x10)
  2. Eating straight from the pint of Ben & Jerry’s froyo (no shame lots and lots of shame)
  3. Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds – dry – after hitting the gym (epitome of logic)
  4. Rice Krispies for breakfast, lunch, or dinner
  5. Pizza after midnight
  6. Frozen Back to Nature Fudge Mint Cookies (better than Thin Mints!)
  7. Daily square of Lindt Touch of Sea Salt Dark Chocolate (addicted, much?)

Twas a healthy year, indeed.  (Let’s not even talk about finals week…)

truly “outrageous” brownies

DSC_2794

As the inspiration for the name of this blog, brownies naturally have a certain sentimental value for me. They remind me of my best friends – our late nights crowded around the TV watching Law and Order: SVU, our candid conversations, and our tendency to drift off into a light sleep after finishing off a warm, comforting square of chocolate-y goodness.

But these brownies – this recipe. They are extra special to me.

‘cherry garcia’ brownies

Remember my first post about brownies?

Seven months later and I’m back at it again.  Dense, chocolatey, decadent brownies with a perfectly-cracked top “crust.”

Oh yeah, now this is a dessert!

moonlight baking is tradition.

I blame my friends.  That’s right, I blame them for this habit of mine – ours.  But I suppose that’s okay, right?  I mean, there’s not all that much wrong with a midnight snack . . . especially when it’s freshly baked!

I love our late night baking (even when that usually means dumping brownie mix into a bowl, whipping it with some eggs, throwing it in the oven, and then returning to the episode of Law and Order: SVU that we’re watching).  And I love being able to enjoy the smell coming from the oven before the brownies are ready to be eaten.  I even love the anticipation of waiting for them to cool down just enough so that we don’t have to worry about burning our mouths off on piping hot brownies.

I just love the tradition.  It’s perfect.
