I’ve been on hiatus lately.

For the first time in close to four years, I’ve really started to slow down… started to relax.  It’s a weird feeling, to be honest.  I feel… lazy, almost.  I treasure the freedom of carefree afternoons, yet despise the now inevitable feeling of being unproductive.

It’s a simultaneous love-hate relationship.

I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen this much snow – on my lawn, in the streets, and piled like Mount Everest in shopping center parking lots.

It’s crazy.

Insane.

Overwhelming.

Inescapable.

I feel like I’m living in a snow globe.

chocolate pot de crème with caramel pretzel crunch

A few years ago, my grandma wanted to take me into New York City for a fun, relaxing girls’ day out.  I was responsible for planning the entire day – from what we’d do to where we’d eat.

At the time, I have to admit, I wasn’t a huge fan of the city.  I didn’t see much excitement in going there.  Too many people, too many buildings, and not nearly enough fresh air.  In the land of “so much to do, so little time,” I struggled to think of activities that would make both of us happy.

peaches.

Yesterday, there was a bowl of stone fruits sitting on the counter.  Rich red plums, vibrant orange nectarines, and sunkissed peaches.  It was quite a beautiful sight.

But today, the bowl no longer contains nectarines or peaches.  We ate the nectarines in their natural, juicy glory, and I baked the peaches to enhance their natural, juicy glory.

 Poor little plums . . .
