undying love: chocolate chip cookies

I woke up this morning feeling rather optimistic.

I thought that I was going to get a lot of work done today – tackle the pile of assignments that has been waiting for me.  Make a dent.  Feel productive.

But that didn’t happen.  Tomorrow is looking pretty good for yet another feeble attempt.

I was productive in one sense: I baked.  Chocolate chip cookies to be exact.

I think I was trying to convince myself that I could bypass my final year of high school and still be successful solely because of my ability to make a decent batch of cookies.

If only the world worked that way.  Damn.

I don’t know what it is about the classic chocolate chip cookie that leaves me spellbound everytime I take a bite of one.  Maybe it’s because they’re so simple.  Maybe it’s because they’re so unpretentious.  And maybe it’s because they’re just so delicious.

foregoing recipes: the aftermath

I have this bad habit.

No, it’s not drinking.  It’s not smoking.  It’s not speeding . . .

Actually, I take back the latter.  My bad.

ANYWAY.  Back to business.

Sometimes I forego recipes – even when baking.

Baking is such a precise science, so this is not exactly the best decision on my part.

Let’s consider the possible outcomes:

1.) Success.

2.) Failure.

3.) Confusion.

In this case, I baked up #3.  Confusion.

peaches.

Yesterday, there was a bowl of stone fruits sitting on the counter.  Rich red plums, vibrant orange nectarines, and sunkissed peaches.  It was quite a beautiful sight.

But today, the bowl no longer contains nectarines or peaches.  We ate the nectarines in their natural, juicy glory, and I baked the peaches to enhance their natural, juicy glory.

 Poor little plums . . .

what’s a girl to do . . .

Seriously.

What’s a girl to do when:

-College applications are looming in her mind.

-Her room is a mess.

-Her room needs to be cleaned.

-She wants to watch the remaining 13 episode of Criminal Minds that are saved on TiVo.

-But she can’t do that, because she need to finish those applications.

- . . . And clean her room.

-Can there be more than 24 hours in a day?

So again, I ask: What’s a girl to do?

a message to my readers

Wow!  You all are truly incredible.  I really cannot thank you enough for being so supportive.

Anyway, as most of you know, I have a lot going on right now.  Between school, work, sanity, and everything else, my free time is, unfortunately, quite limited.

But!

This will not stop me from baking, taking photos, or blogging.  Instead, I’m just going to have to limit how frequently I post.  I’m going to aim for a new post every week – and if it’s a good week, who knows?  Maybe I’ll even post twice!

I know this may be a bit of an inconvenience to see when each new post is published, so I recommend subscribing to this blog.  You can simply do this by scrolling down to the very bottom of the page, clicking the button that reads “Sign me up!” (found under “Email Subscriptions”), and following the directions from there.  That way, you’ll be the first to know when there’s a new recipe ready and waiting for you to try it out!

In the meantime, here’s a picture that might clue you in to something about my next post.
